Abstract The Augustana Choir was formed in 1931 under the direction of Henry Veld, who merged Augustana College's two choral groups, the Wennerberg Chorus and the Orioles, into one group. The choir made its first appearance 18 March 1931 during a concert at Orchestra Hall in Chicago and became an immediate success. The Martin M. Johnston papers, 1920-1939 and undated, contains photographs, travel brochures, postcards, and maps, primarily related to the Augustana College Band's European tour of 1928. Martin M. Johnston was a music director and graduate of the Augustana Music Conservatory who led the band on this tour.

Abstract

Charles John Sabbath was born 4 September 1930 in Muscatine, Iowa. He entered Augustana College in September 1950 as a sophomore transfer student from Muscatine Junior College. The Charles Sabbath papers date from 1949 to 1953 and measure 0.5 linear feet. The collection contains correspondence, registration materials, coursework, student life materials, and publications.

Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) is an international women's music fraternity founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1903. Augustana College's chapter, Delta Tau, was founded in 1965 and still exists today.
